Using Tagclouds to Analyze Debate

I wrote a post a couple of month ago about using tag clouds to analyze marketing positioning. The WSJ used tag clouds this morning to analyze the pressure points in the presidential town-hall debate last night.

In this case, tag clouds do not illuminate much beyond the obvious–both were focused on the economy, taxes, and highlighting the weaknesses of the other. Republicans mention America much more often than Democrats (tag clouds for all debates–including VP–are available on the same page) and McCain has a habit of using the phrase, “my friends,” at every turn.
