Sacha Chua Wins Slideshare Contest… Doodling

I posted a couple of weeks ago about the resourcefulness of Millenials, and mentioned Sacha Chua as an example of a creative, energetic, optimistic 20-something. I was so impressed by her slideshow about her role as a social web evangelist. Well, she’s at it again with a similar presentation, which won Slideshare’s World’s Best Presentation Contest in the “About Me” category.

Sachua Cha: About Me

For those of you practicing marketers not familiar with Slideshare: get thee there! It’s a site for sharing PPT presentations and you’ll be amazed by some of the gorgeously creative examples (and obscenely awful presentations too). Sometimes when I’m feeling stuck, I wander the virtual halls of Slideshare to get ideas and inspiration.

Sachua’s presentation makes use of a very popular little tool these days: online doodling. It seems that everyone is using doodles to express creative ideas. Maybe it started with xkcd:

The End Is Not For a While

The End Is Not For a While

…but it’s been gaining momentum. Check out this ridiculously successful political fundraising campaign, or this fun presentation about creative collaboration. Even Google had a contest: Doodle for Google. It seems all hip marketing creatives are using doodles to say, “I have so many creative ideas; I need another outlet for my genius!”

There are many tools to use for computer-doodling… professionals use tools like Cintiq 12WX, but there are cheaper tools as well, including the good old-fashioned paper-to-scanner technique.
